IFAS extension agents team up to get the word out about climate change

IFAS extension agents from three North Florida counties are pooling their expertise to bring a climate change workshop to residents.

The workshop is set for Sept. 6 at the Leon County Extension Center and costs $15, including lunch. The workshop was organized by agents in Leon, Wakulla and Jefferson counties and is open to the public.

The daylong program will include a synopsis of the current climate change situation, instruction on how to calculate your own carbon footprint and solutions for your own landscape, home and consumption habits.

After the presentations, participants will work in small groups to brainstorm ways motivated citizens can help schools, churches, neighborhoods and civic groups adopt sustainable living practices.

Those interested in the program are asked to call Genice Harris at 850-606-5202 to reserve a spot.
