Need a guide to gardening during a hot, dry summer? Educating your office or local businesses and schools about the benefits of sustainability? Maybe you’re just trying to figure out how to get love-bug road kill off your car before its paint job begins to resemble an adolescent hooked on greasy food.
When you’re looking for educational materials, don’t forget to check the IFAS Extension Bookstore Web site for the fastest access to books, videos and other educational resources authored by IFAS experts.
You can browse by subject or use the search engine to find specific items—you’re never more than three mouse clicks away from a whole host of valuable resources. Materials are available in virtually any format you’ll need, from books and slides to DVDs and new software applications.
How to order
Payments made online using any VISA or MasterCard are usually shipped the next day. You can also call the bookstore directly at 352-392-1764 or 1-800-226-1764. Checks and state purchase orders are accepted, but please call first for shipping rates.
If ordering online isn’t your cup of tea, feel free to drop by the walk-in bookstore at building 440 on Mowry Road on the Gainesville UF campus. It’s open 8 to 5 on business days.
Quantity discount
All bookstore resources are eligible for discounts except pesticide training, application materials and management guides.
A 40 percent discount off the retail price is given to in-house buyers and resellers. In-house buyers include all faculty, staff and student organizations of IFAS purchasing in quantities of ten or more of the same title.
Resellers are those persons or businesses possessing a valid tax resale certificate and purchasing in quantities of ten or more of the same title.
A 25 percent discount off the retail price is given to anyone outside IFAS purchasing 25 or more of the same title for personal or educational use—not for resale. This includes, but is not limited to, trade and professional organizations, educational associations, nonprofit organizations and individual customers.
Sales tax
Sales tax is not charged on items sold to IFAS departments or extension offices purchasing for IFAS use or extension resale. Extension offices purchasing resources at a discount and reselling them to the public at retail price must collect and remit sales tax to the Florida Department of Revenue.
Extension offices that wish to sell resources but are not prepared to collect and remit sales tax should contact Marjie Haytock. Individuals purchasing items directly from IFAS Extension Bookstore must pay the sales tax applicable in the purchaser’s county.
Consignment Option
County extension offices that wish to resell IFAS resources but do not have a ready cash line can contact Marjie Haytock at least two weeks in advance of any event where resources are needed.
