Go online and check out lineup for August's CALS teaching symposium

The eighth CALS Teaching Enhancement Symposium is set for next month, and organizers are hoping to outdraw last year’s crowd of more than 250 IFAS faculty, staff and graduate students.

The annual symposium, designed to enhance classroom learning and academic advisement, is set for Aug. 13 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The symposium will be held at the UF Hilton and Conference Center and the symposium program is available online.

Robin Wright, associate dean for faculty and academic affairs with the University of Minnesota, is the day’s keynote speaker. Wright, a professor of genetics, cell biology and development, has worked to improve undergraduate education. She chairs her university’s Council on Enhancing Student learning and helped create an orientation/enrichment course required for all incoming freshmen in her college.

The symposium was organized by CALS Associate Dean, Elaine Turner, the CALS Teaching Resource Center and the CALS Teaching Enhancement and Faculty Recognition Committee.
