Learning that fire can be friendly, too
Dr. Michael Andreu, assistant professor of forest systems and Extension specialist for the Plant City Campus, stands in front of a controlled burn set by students in the class Fire in Natural Resource Management. Working with UF faculty and Florida Department of Forestry personnel, students in the class conduct prescribed burns and other forest management practices. These types of hands-on experiences are a regular feature of the UF/IFAS-GCREC Plant City Campus curriculum.
