Packaging Foundation donates $100,000 instrument to IFAS program
IFAS officials celebrated the donation of a $100,000 computer-aided cardboard cutting machine April 20 with a dedication and demonstration of its use.
The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation donated the large cardboard cutting machine to UF’s packaging science department. The company is hoping to lure more students into the growing field.
The table allows packaging science students to use state-of-the-art technology to create store displays and containers from corrugated materials.
“It will allow students to see their two-dimensional computer designs come to life as commercial-quality, three-dimensional objects,” said Bruce Welt, an associate professor in packaging science.
